In order to make way for the new Transbay Transit Center at First and Mission streets in downtown San Francisco, the Transbay Joint Powers Authority (TJPA) demolished the former Transbay Terminal facility and bus ramps, and relocated utilities in the project area. Demolition and utility relocation activities are now complete, as is the Transit Center’s foundation. Construction of the below grade walls columns and the lower concourse began in early 2013 and is nearly complete and will continue until late 2015. Structural steel assembly began in Fall 2014 and is expected to complete in mid-2016.
The Transbay Terminal closed on August 6, 2010. Bus operations have relocated to the Transbay Temporary Terminal.
